Going on Vacation? The Best Way to Protect Minor Children While You Are Away!

What is the best way to provide for someone to take action on behalf of my minor children while my spouse and I go on vacation or are otherwise not going to be available?

There are actually two things…. you can do. There is a relatively recent Florida Statute that allows parents, guardians and custodians to designate a health care surrogate for a minor, giving the surrogate the power to make health care decisions if you are not available. There may also be non-health care related actions that you would also want to provide for such as school or camp registration or other general matters. This can be addressed in a limited power of attorney.
